Eco-Friendly fabrics or textiles are generally defined as fabrics that are made with minimum use of chemicals and pesticides, while considering the well being of the environment and Eco-friendly textiles are a way to create a healthier cycle. The increase in processing and production have have raised alarms on the environmental concerns where the textiles industries have been set up. Water, Air and Land are polluted by harmful toxins that are produced during the manufacturing process. The production stage of a textile include procedures like bleaching and dyeing which contribute to pollution on a very large extent which hazardous to the life depended on the forces of the nature on which the bio-diversity relies upon making land unsuitable for agriculture and water unsafe for drinking. But it is crucial for the textile industry to be more sustainable, controlling pollution is as vital as making the product free from the toxic effect. This change in the industry to safeguard the environment and shift to Eco-friendly clothing was enforced upon the manufacturers due to the change in the environmental laws. The textile manufacturers use tons of water contributing to water scarcity also most of the chemical used for dying the fabric are carcinogenic in nature.

Why Eco-friendly textiles are a way to go?

Textile production is a polluting process no matter how you put it. However, eco-friendly textiles make a conscious effort to make the world a better place by incorporating environmental practices. This has been in existence since the British era where the Indian hand-looms and handicrafts collapsed under the colonial rule which were usually imposed by machine made products made and imported from Britain.
